Girls on Grass

Girls On Grass was founded by guitarist/vocalist Barbara Endes and drummer Nancy Polstein. Subsequently, the band added two more members: guitarist, Sean Eden, and bassist/DJ, Dave Mandl.
The band was born on the solid ground of country music, then tended and pruned by Brooklyn’s rock/pop flare. Some tracks on their album sound like straight up country, such as “Fair”. While some songs, such as “What They Wrought”, have clear, simple guitar riffs, sounding more rock. No matter what type of music is behind Endes’ voice though- it’s pure, and casual (with a clear twang when she lets it slip out).
Girls On Grass’ music is simple, clean, and delicious. Like the bitter sweetness of a red delicious apple, this band has stripped all but what they believe is totally necessary to their music. Because of this, their music is raw and personal. Popular country musicians today commonly make the mistake of over decorating their songs. Girls On Grass understand the beauty within simplicity.
Girls On Grass’ music is also very human with lyrics that are honest and relatable, and at times even humorous. For example, in their song “When The Pleasure Ends”, they talk about growing pains within lines such as, “Screaming ‘til your voice cracks/Laughing at the weak/Intimidating the old folks/Experimenting with weed” and “Everything is a joke/You make your mother cry/And sex is your one hope/You eat each other alive”.
