Hosting its 3rd Annual Music For All Ball this upcoming May, Rock to the Future is inviting you to support free music education for all Philadelphia youth and families.
Arts education, unfortunately, continues to suffer in the Philadelphia area, with arts budgets constantly getting cut with the current state of Philly schools. Students do not receive quite enough exposure to arts, a problem that many associations, including Rock to the Future, are trying to solve.
Jessica Craft, co-founder of Rock to the Future, says:
“Our goal is to spark an interest in music for the kids. A lot of them have probably never even seen an instrument up close before, they probably have never had an opportunity to touch a guitar or a piano.”
Craft, as well as many other artists and art-lovers, believe it’s about more than just enjoying music. Music, and arts in general, have been proven many times to have various benefits for the brain, and to help the kids in their learning process. The School Superintendents Association says: “Art instruction and music listening wire the brain for successful learning by helping cognitive growth.”
Community efforts and organizations, like Rock to the Future, are the keys to restoring art exposure, in school districts where budget cuts keep on happening.
Raising funds to provide free music education for under-served kids, the Music For All Ball will return for its 3rd edition and is promised to be just as fun as its two older sisters, with live performances from 200+ artists, both students from Rock to the Future, and local musicians, a raffle and auction, bites and beverages, take-home gift bags for everyone, and many many musical surprises.
Get ready to dance the night away with Rock to the Future to all your favorite jams, because this year’s Ball will be Glam Rock themed. Resurrect your platform shoes, glittered shirts, studs, leather jackets, go heavy on your makeup and channel your inner Lady Gaga or David Bowie.
The Music For All Ball sells out weeks in advance, so be sure to get your tickets early. Early Bird Tickets can be found here.
