Do you like some old fashioned rock and roll? Then Yoko and the Oh No’s is definitely for you. This three-piece band from Chicago knows how to drum up some catchy guitar riffs, melodies, and bring the rock.
Lead vocalist Max Goldstein, guitarist/vocals Max Loebman, and drummer Stef Roti are barely out of high school and are showing the older generation that good ole’ rock and roll isn’t dead yet. Goldstein has the perfect voice and range for this type of music — growly, sexy, and grungy all in one.
On their stellar self-titled debut album, the garage rock trio brings ten-song set of catchy garage rock with simplicity at its core. You know a record is going to be good when the opening track really takes your breath away.
“She Knows It” is about women who know that they got it goin’ on and they aren’t afraid to flaunt it. The 1:54 track is just long enough o get the point across; it’s an absolutely perfect choice for the opening song on the record.
Another favorite song of mine is “She Ain’t Mine”. The guitar work in the opening of the song is so catchy you can’t help but jam and nod your head along to the melody. Even for those of you aren’t dancers, this one is going to get you movin’ and groovin’ to the beat.
On “Nobody Wants To Know”, their sound almost brings a familiarity and simplicity of a certain British band that was huge back in the ’60s.
Overall, you’ll want to check out this up and coming rock band for sure. This is a record that the DJs will be spinning at parties all over the country.
