Morning World

A strings section crescendos upward, peaks, then drifts into mellow guitar on indie pop act Teen Daze’s opening track “Valley of Gardens.” Unlike the band’s opening song, “Treten,” on the debut record, All of Us, Together, which enveloped a more electronic feel, “Valley of Gardens” possesses a haunting, yet soothing qualities at the same time a la Washed Out or Wild Nothing. These characteristics make for an amazing musical journey.
On the subsequent track, “Pink,” Jamison sings: “I climbed above the tree line / And saw the world a new life / Patterns in the sky / Only seen from high / Above / Ooh it was love.” This track pulls together the best of both chillwave and indie pop worlds.
The nearly-instrumental “Post Storm” illustrates the feel of the waves after the storm at the beginning of the track. The band brings back the strings section in the song painting an image of a sea post storm so wretched it’s scary.
“Along” is heavy on the bass and brings a 70’s vibe to its nature. Jamison sings: “Somewhere down the softest path I’ve fallen into the grass / The violet cloud has covered now and the sun is falling down / In this dream halfway between / The Earth and where I am / I see you standing beside the waters”.
After listening to the first track, you can clearly hear the growth of Teen Daze. The simplicity of this album surpasses any other albums that Teen Daze has created to date.
