Calling all car fanatics: the East Passyunk Car Show and Street Festival is almost here. This Sunday, the neighborhood will be host to some impressive vehicles, entered to win a number of prizes. If you come early, you may even get a chance to enter your own ride!
Of course, the East Passyunk Street Festival isn’t just a car show, and there are a number of wonderful family-friendly activities to participate in while you’re there. For foodies, there will be gourmet food trucks, such as Little Baby’s Ice Cream, Made in the Shade Lemonade, Vendy Awards competitors Oink and Moo BBQ and the Cow and the Curd, and more. You will also get the opportunity to eat at great local restaurants and bars such as Mamma Maria Ristorante, Ms. Goody Cupcake, and craft beer staples the Bottle Shop and Stogie Joe’s.
The festival will also feature live bands playing throughout the day, including We Are Fauna, Winky Williams & the Family Band, The Drive-Ins, and more. There will be shopping opportunities from a variety of street vendors, including jewelry from Old Blood Jewlry, Little Studs, Indican Jewelry, ceramics from Jane Broadbent and Wrong Work Ceramics, stuffed animals from ByYivvie, and many more. Fun activities just for kids will be available as well, including circus performers, arts and crafts, and even a moon bounce.
As East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District director and festival organizer Renee Gilinger told That Mag, “this year we’re raising heads with the addition of an aerialist flying high over East Passyunk just steps from Broad Street. And there will still be plenty of action on the ground including more food trucks than ever and a Rolling Stones cover band, Brown Sugar, that won us over during Philly Beer Week – it will definitely be our biggest year yet and there truly is something for everyone!”
As with the past eight editions of the festival, this year will still be centered around the legendary car show, which also includes categories for motorcycles. The vehicles will be judged for a total of twelve possible trophies, including the crowning Car & Motorcycle Best of Show, along with Best Engine, Best Truck, Best Low Rider, Best Modified, and more. If you are interested in entering your own car to compete in the show, come with the $15 fee and head to Broad St. and EPA starting at 8 AM and ending at 1 PM. Get there early to secure a spot!
The East Passyunk Avenue Car Show and Street Festival will be held this Sunday, July 27th, on East Passyunk Avenue, between Broad St. and Dickenson St., and it is absolutely free to enter for regular admission (although the previously mentioned car entry will cost you $15). Currently, the festival is set to run from Noon through to 5 PM, but late rain predictions will cause the festival to start an hour early, and early or all-day rain will cause the festival to be rescheduled to the following Sunday, August 3rd. Check the weather and time/date adjustments before heading over!
To top it all off, if you have never used Uber before now is your chance to get $20 off of your first ride coming to the festival, by using the code EPACAR here. Car enthusiasts, motorcycle lifers, and families of all kinds should be sure to come to this awesome and exciting festival!
