It’s a night of soul & hip-hop, color & love. Red Baraat, a bone chilling band of eight with a sound so sinfully contagious and full of high-energy are headlining a ‘Festival of Color’ tomorrow night. This is a very big deal, everyone I know who has gone to a ‘Festival of Color’ says it is a life changing experience of emotion, music and obviously color.
We’ve all seen pictures bouncing around social media of people looking as if they’ve died and gone to heaven. What the Festival of Colors celebrates is the Hindu Holiday of Holi; it is a festival of love, people and music and represents a blossoming of new life with the end of winter and the arrival of spring.
This event makes for a beautiful image during the day and it has to be an out of this world experience at night. Mandeep Sethi will be playing as the first supporting act. Sethi is a spoken word MC with rhymes as sick as beats and a deep appreciation for his roots imbedded with a natural sound. He will open your mind.
Falu, a New York based Indian songstress, will be holding down the second supporting act spot. Her elegance and beauty will captivate alone; but she and her live band have been known to move mountains.
Thursday is the night to play, laugh, forget, forgive and listen to everything. Tickets $17ADV | $21DOS.
