Supermodel

Supermodel, Foster the People’s sophomore 12-track album has a tough act to follow in the trio’s Grammy nominated debut album Torches and chart-topping hit “Pumped Up Kicks”, but follow it does, with an upbeat stride showing that there’s more depth than disco-pop.
Lead single, “Coming of Age”, paying tribute to its title, shows the growth of Foster the People, while also paying tribute to openly proclaimed childhood idols The Beach Boys (listen no further than the cooing “ooohs”). You’ll quickly find yourself tagging along on the trip to maturity.
The album walks the line between techno-disco dance and psych-rock, fading back and forth between tracks, leaving listeners wondering if they should be hosting a glow-stick dance party or laying back on a hot summer afternoon (never mind will have you opening up your lounge chair).
All and all, the album is a solid work of both mainstream tunes (“Coming of Age”, “Best Friend”) and space-gun firing experimentation (“Pseudologia Fantastica”). The album opens on track 2 asking, “Is this the life you’ve been waiting for,” and by the last track, you’ll find that Supermodel is exactly what you’ve been waiting nearly three years for and the Foster the People that have been missing in your musical catalog (or iPod).
