Don’t know what to do this Valentine’s Day or even who to celebrate it with? Well don’t worry. The good folks from one of the more famous families in Northeast Pennsylvania has a solution to all your problems. Actually, they have several. The family behind America’s oldest brewery have decided to bring back their line of all natural, locally sourced ice cream.
Stop anyone on the street and chances are they have at least heard of, if not indulged in the glory that is Yuengling Lager. But if you ask those same people if they’ve tried a scoop Yuengling’s ice cream, the likelihood decreases substantially. While the ice cream and line of brews share the same name, they are not affiliated. However, they do come from the same family and their history is a bit intertwined.
Yuengling’s Ice Cream began in 1920 as a way to generate additional income while the family brewery fell silent thanks to Prohibition. Once it was over, the creamery continued putting our frozen sweet treats one pint at a time. In 1985 the family decided to shut production of the ice cream down and now, almost 30 years later, the ice cream makes it return.
Coming in an array of flavors that range from the stalwarts like vanilla and chocolate to black and tan and root beer float, the ice cream can be found from Pittsburgh to the Jersey Shore and from Northern Virginia to Binghampton, NY. It will be primarily sold in Acme and Weis stores as well as independent grocery stores. To make the search easy, Yuengling’s Ice Cream has their own search tool.
Yuengling’s Ice Cream started arriving on shelves earlier this week. So on the day made for lovers, share a pint of your favorite flavor with the one you love. Or if you’re one who is worried you will be surrounded by all of your hitched friends, share an evening with your new love- Yuengling Ice Cream.
