Hundreds of anxious fans waited outside the House Of Blues in Atlantic City, anticipating the start of a great show. With all of the attention surrounding Mac Miller’s first album, fans wait patiently to see which songs he plans on performing that night.
First up were The Come Up Boys, hailing from Pittsburgh. The duo’s lyrical ability and witty one-liners enticed the crowd. Not to mention the energy displayed by the performers to keep the crowd alive.
Next up to perform was Dillon Cooper, from Brooklyn. As with any opening act, it may prove hard for the audience to get into them without a song people can sing along with. Cooper had the right idea. With no beat playing, he began singing “Ms Jackson” by Outkast. The arena immediately began to sing with him. He followed this by doing his own rendition of the song. Witty move, Mr. Cooper.
The last opening act was The Underachievers, also from Brooklyn, NY. Their slow tempo and bass-heavy melodies provided a more “chill” vibe for the night.
The curtains then closed. Mac Miller was on next. It was apparent that he had something big planned (or so I found myself guessing after waiting out the twenty minute set change). He was finally starting. The first few songs that Mac Miller played were off of his new album, Watching Movies With The Sound Off. I’ll admit, I’ve listened to the album and I wasn’t a huge fan. Seeing his energy in performing these songs changed my mind though. We could all see his vision for that album come to life.

Miller was having fun up there. His carefree attitude lasted through each song. This attitude continued when he covered “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” by Bob Marley. He then took us back, performing songs from his album Macadelic including “Lucky Ass Bitch”, “Thoughts From A Balcony” and more. Next, he performed “Missed Calls” from his Blue Slide Park album. This proved to be a crowd favorite for the night with everyone in harmony.
Mac Miller proved why he is one of the next big hip hop artists in the music industry. His energy and ability to make the crowd participate made for an unforgettable experience. Despite the long waits between sets and constant pushing from fellow concertgoers, it was still a concert for the ages. A perfect way to have some fun this holiday season.
