Ever wanted to hold your own festival? Lon Edmonds, creator of Lawnstock Musicfest, did just that.
After years parading around festivals in his youth and studying the inner workings of festivals, Edmonds asked himself—why can’t I do this too? Recruiting a group of friends, he formed his own production company, End of Daze Productions, and held a handful of shows “too keep the ball rolling” until the second annual Lawnstock. Even though the fest is held at his beautiful home in Nescopeck, PA, 30 miles southwest of Wilkes-Barre, this is no ordinary backyard party. His team of organizers have revamped the event from last year, introducing an additional stage to keep the music flowing all day, numerous food and craft vendors, fire dancers, Reiki massages, and even a mist station to cool off from the sweltering heat.
Edmond’s vision stays true to Pennsylvania’s vibrant music scene. The bill includes prominent local artists from nearly every genre in the region, such as the fiery psychedelic rock band Mystery Fyre, Bethlehem’s roots reggae Trouble City All Stars, Philadelphia’s funk/jazz fusion quartet UZO, and the wholesome twang of Still Hand String Band straight from the hills of Pennsyltucky. Other notable acts include the psych-rock Americana Willie & The Northern Light, the free-flowing, unfiltered jam band The Mighty Susquehanna’s, and blues rock The Magnetic North Project, among others. A complete list and all festival information is available on Lawnstock’s website.
