“I am a canvas of my experiences, my story is etched in lines and shading, and you can read it on my arms, my legs, my shoulders, and my stomach” -Kat von D
Tattoos have been in the history books for thousands of years. From ancient China all the way to the youth of today, we have been expressing ourselves by using our bodies as journals.
This year at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, February 8th -10th will be the 15th annual Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention. Artists from all over the world such as Jack Rudy, Megan Massacre from NY Ink, Myke Chambers from Sullen Art Collective, and Amy Nicolette from LA Ink will be attending. Also appearing for a book signing is Philadelphia’s own Crazy Philadelphia Eddie.
Weather you are planning on getting tattooed or just going for the entertainment, you will not find yourself bored. All three days of the Tattoo Arts Convention will consist of non-stop entertainment such as Philly’s own Olde City Sideshow, Suspension by Miss CRASH, a show from The Enigma & Serana Rose and of course daily tattoo contests. First, Second and Third place trophies will be awarded
as well as plaques for the artist. Also the Best in Show prize winner will receive a spread in Freshly Inked Magazine.
Attending the Tattoo Arts Convention will receive a stamp or wrist band which will get you in to the After Party at The Trocadero. Musical artists such as Murphy’s Law (playing Friday the 8th) and Sparklefight who will be playing Saturday the 9th at 1:00am are going to keep the party going with fast, face-melting rock. Head over to www.villainarts.com for the full weekend layout.
Having trouble figuring out what your next tattoo will be? The Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention will help you fill the rest of that journal we call a body.
